Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing

Fractional Laser Skin Resurfacing

What is Fractional laser skin resurfacing?

Fractional laser resurfacing is the latest breakthrough in the non surgical skin rejuvenation procedures. The term fractional pertains to the method in which the laser beam is broken up or fractionated into many small micro beams, which penetrate into the dermis to treat minute sections of the skin, to stimulate significant collagen renewal. The essence of fractional laser therapy is that only selected areas of the damaged skin are treated. The treated skin area rapidly recovers with newer skin and healthy tissue.

As a result, patients can undergo a relatively risk-free procedure; achieve their desired skin rejuvenation, majority of individuals are able to resume their normal daily activities on the same day.

Fractional skin resurfacing has revolutionized skin care and is used to treat a number of skin conditions including wrinkles, fine lines, sun damaged skin, skin discolorations, acne scars, stretch marks and to improve the skin texture.

How many treatments required?

For every individual the number of sessions would vary depending on various factors like depth & type of skin, area and type of scar to be treated. For asian skin type, optimum results may be obtained in 3-4 sessions with 4-6 week interval between two sessions.

How much time is required?

Fractional Laser Resurfacing can be extremely quick procedures, often lasting no longer than 30 minutes.

After treatment Precautions?

You can return to your usual activities after the session but for the first week your skin may be red and swollen. Post treatment  care involves avoiding  direct  sunlight exposure and using a good sunscreen.

Acne Scars and Derma Roller

Acne Scars and Derma Roller

Acne, if  pricked or left unattended can leave behind acne scars. Scarring, as we all know, is always associated with a lot of psychological trauma especially when it occurs on the face.  Any type of facial scarring almost always suffers from low self esteem, loss of self confidence and  an emotional imprint for a lifetime

Treatment options available for facial scars range from simple topical medication to fractionated or even full face laser resurfacing. In mild scarring topical applications might help. In moderate scarring cream application do not achieve any significant result and one has to go for other treatment like Micro needling (DERMAROLLER), FRACTIONAL resurfacing with or without chemical peels and microdermabrasion. Severe scarring will need surgical intervention.

Skin & cosmetology Clinic brings you Acne scar free service – based on Dermaroller technology.

What is a derma roller?

A derma roller is a simple, hand – held instrument consisting of a handle with a cylinder studded all round with fine, stainless steel needles 1.5mm in length.  It is rolled in multiple directions on the skin. This process has two major benefits.

  • Stimulates collagen formation thus helping scar reduction.
  • Dermaroller needles also create microchannels in skin for topical gels & creams to be absorbed more effectively through the top layer (epidermis ) of the skin.

Sessions Required
For optimal benefits 4 sessions are required with a gap of 6-8 weeks between two sessions as it takes  that much time for collagen to remodel. Regular Dermaroller sessions help to encourage an on –going collagen production. There will be no pain as the service is carried out with the application of topical anesthesia, which would numb the area.

The results of this treatment is permanent reduction in the depth of the scars. Thereby making them less visible & giving a smoother skin.

Post Procedure Care
There will be some redness & swelling in the the treated area, which generally subsides in a few days time. Advised to apply sunscreen & avoid direct sunlight service for 7-8 days after service.

Comparison with Laser
Dermaroller may take more time & number of sessions than laser resurfacing but there is not much difference in the results at the end of treatment . Laser is more expensive ( 3times) and  might not be affordable for everybody.
